Ring in the New Year

Put a ring on it is what Beyonce sang! And we agree, but don't get hung up on an wedding ring when you can get just as much attention wearing one of these fashionable rings. Make bling your thing this year with cocktail rings in all shapes and sizes. Choose from a message to stackable styles, real gold or multi-stone chunky rings to a sweet bee.

I love my engagement and wedding rings, but I also love to additionally add bold chunky rings that make a statement. These eight rings will have people staring, coveting and doling out compliments.

USB Bracelet by Shipley & Halmos, $25 Ebay

If you're anything like me and your phone dies often, it's always good to have your charger on hand. I've struggled to find the right  cord to use to plug into my laptop since it seems like everyone's updated their phone to the new iphone 5. I find this USB bracelet to be smart and stylish. It conveniently wraps around your wrist and is there whenever you need the energy boost for your phone. Every girl-on-the-go could use this gift.

i.Sound 4 USB Wall Charger Pro, $18 Amazon
I recently graduated from my old basic phone into the world of smartphones and am now all too familiar with the mid-afternoon battery quitting time. To keep up with the times, I need all my gadgets to keep up with me, so this little stocking stuffer is the perfect fix. It charges my tablet, phone, and GPS all at once, in one place, so I'm not runnin' around the room searching for different outlets in a dead-battery panic.

Fall Frenzy - Our Favorite Sweaters for Women This Season

Friday Favorites - October 4th

Sweaters; from splurge to steal, animal prints to cute graphics, to the requisite cable knits and boyfriend sweaters, we've got what will keep you warm and cozy this season. And, of course, what will always keep you looking stylish!

Cashmere Sweaters

J. Crew Collection Cashmere Jeweled Shoulder Sweater, $398 J. Crew

This luxe crewneck is the perfect balance of soft and bold. It's covered in three different color-rich jewels - all hand applied for maximum impact.

La Grave Colorblock Cashmere Sweater, $285 Diane Von Furstenberg

This baseball-t inspired sweater is color blocked to perfection, the La Grave means you can stop stealing your boyfriend's sweater. Play ball!

Animal Prints

Mango Oversized Leopard Wool Blend Sweater, $90 ASOS

Big Meow! This spotted sweater would look great with a bold silk collared top underneath in magenta, emerald or royal blue.

H & M Zebra Pattern Wool Blend Sweater, $59.95 H&M

I've seen both leopards and zebras up close on safari, but I can't say what sounds the zebra makes. This sweater, however, certainly makes a style statement and you can make any sound you want while wearing it.

Cozy and Oversize Sweaters

Merino Boyfriend Sweater in Dusty Jade, $88 J. Crew

The boyfriend sweater is one of my all-time favorites. Slightly oversize (so there's more to love) with a boxy silhouette, a flattering deep V-neck and skinny sleeves. It's what I plan to live in on weekends.

Barneys New York Leather Cuff Cardigan, $245 Barneys

Seriously cozy! This cardigan with leather cuffs is just right for layering over another sweater. Whether vintage furniture shopping on weekends or as my better substitute for those thin airplane blankets, it's perfect.

Go-To Graphic Prints Under $60

Jacquard Scissor Sweater, $59.90 Zara

For cold days or nights, this cozy sweater does the trick, whether worn alone or layered over a plaid shirt and paired with your favorite strategically ripped jeans.

Graphic Crewneck Sweater, $32.94 Old Navy

I'm hooked on the video/song "What Does The Fox Say?" Sly (or smart) like a fox, this sweater is simply too adorable to pass up. Wear your own glasses for maximum effect and pair with a pencil skirt.

Not Your Average Sweater - Swoon Worthy

Ted Baker Gwuna Lace Cardigan, $195 Neiman Marcus

This lace embellished cardigan is super sweet and feminine and can easily go from jeans to a ball gown skirt.

Sequinned Sweater, $99.90 Zara

Hello parties. Hello holidays.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, $29.99 Target

Chillier temperatures have us pining over the more comfy things in life, like oversized cozy sweaters and on-sale Target socks. But just because it's sweater weather doesn't mean you should look like you just rolled off the couch! Sweatshirts are an easy go-to this fall. The sporty top has gone beyond the days of the gym to exercise to more stylish options. You want to feel like you're working it, not so much working out. I'd throw on some dark wash straight blue jeans and dress it up with some heels for a casual night out with friends.

Force Cardigan with Leather Sleeves, $455 All Saints

Gloomy days where I want to bundle up with a cup of tea and a book has brought me to this All Saints pick. Cold weather makes me just want to stay inside, but a day's work calls for me to be on-the-go and I like any option that's comfy chic. The leather sleeves and wool blend is a perfect combo of style and comfort. Leggings and knee high boots would be my go-to pairing for this sweater weather ensemble.

Leather Panel V-Neck Sweater, $158  J. Crew

J. Crew never disappoints with stylish and cozy sweater options every Fall. I love, love, love this V-neck with the leather detailing, I mean COME ON...so amazing right?! It's that perfect touch of unexpected that makes me have to have it!

Minkpink Pride Sweater, $70 Swell

Elephants will always be my favorite wild animal! Though they may be monstrously large, wrinkly grey creatures, and their political connotation is not so hot right now. Whether I'm facing the wild and windy fall weather, or cozying up indoors with my kindle, this elephant sweater is the one for me. With the soft cotton feel and funky pattern behind the animal, this is definitely a sweater I'll never forget on a chilly afternoon.

Endless Amusement

For this week’s Friday Favorites we pay homage to one of my favorite quotes about fashion. Working as a fashion director and stylist, I’ve come to enjoy all the hues that designers use when creating a collection. However I’m always overjoyed when a designer embraces bold colors. So this week we share our Cerulean Blue favorites.

From the beloved, Devil Wears Prada:

Miranda Priestly: Something funny?
Andy Sachs: No, no, nothing. Y'know, it's just that both those belts look exactly the same to me. Y'know, I'm still learning about all this stuff.
Miranda Priestly: This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic "casual corner" where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of "stuff."

Classic Q Trifold Wallet, $200 ShopBop
This cerulean Marc Jacobs wallet would go perfect with my bright aqua purse. It's no secret that blue is my favorite color, but not just any old boring sky blue. I love shocking, fun, insane pop of color blue! Be sure you have your sunglasses on when I come around with my eye-popping blues.

Scotch Naturals in Seaboard, $23 SG Nails
I had to go with this nail polish because with this, you can incorporate cerulean into every look! It was tough to narrow down my favorite pick this week, because cerulean is one of my favorite colors! It's splashed all over my wardrobe and jewelry. A bonus, Scotch Naturals uses an eco-friendly, water-based formula without any of those harmful chemicals most nail polishes have. I give it two cerulean-painted thumbs up!

Ton-Sur-Ton Beaded Bib, $30 Anthropologie
This Anthropologie necklace has such a cool ombre of cerulean that drew me to it. When it comes to jewelry, I love statement pieces. I have a slight obsession with buying necklaces in bright pops of color. I love that it can add the perfect pop to any ensemble.

Michelangelo, gelato, the Duomo, Trevi Fountain, Vespa’s, cobblestone streets, pasta,
wine…the list goes on and on. Then the Italian designers from Gucci to Cavalli
to Versace to Missoni. This week’s Friday Favorites is all about our love of Italy,
whether it’s the real deal or just inspiration. Especially since I'm in Firenze (Florence) right now, it seems apropo.

Rome Skyline Wall Decal, $33 My Wall Decal

I love this wall decal that sits above my living room couch. I've always dreamt of riding aimlessly through the streets of Rome on a Vespa or sitting at a sidewalk cafe and admiring the architecture of the beautiful city.  I love that it serves as a constant reminder to one day travel there. Plus it's an easy, creative way to decorate a room!

Italian Map Art Print, $30 Etsy

Here's a clever map art print that shows the different areas of Italy along with illustrations of their signature foods. Perfect for an Italian culture -or food- enthusiast! Back in college, I took a semester of Italian to learn about the language and geography of the country, but all I could think about as I sat in class was "man, I bet the food there is to die for!"

Outdoor Entertaining

It's obvious that we girls equate outdoor entertaining with drinking. With temperatures that can hit in the 90's and even over 100 degrees, well, a glass of lemonade or sangria can really hit the spot. For this Friday Favorites, we say, "Drink Up!"

Stacked Beverage Server - $83 Neiman Marcus

This triple layered beverage server is a huge space saver and a unique way to give your party guests a few drink options. Plus it looks great and adds a little dimension to your food table.

And perhaps for one of your drinks, try this easy recipe for Sangria Coolers

1 (1 liter) bottle Sangria (I've also used a bottle of Zinfandel for this and it worked great!)

2 plums, pitted and sliced, plus more for garnish
1/2 pound cherries, stemmed and pitted
2 (12-ounce) cans ginger ale
Ice

Method

1. Working in 2 batches, purée Sangria, plums and cherries until smooth. (Strain through a fine sieve and discard any solids, if you like.)

2. Pour over ice in glasses or beverage server

3. Top off with ginger ale, garnish with additional sliced plums and serve. (Pro-tip: Put this in the highest level of the beverage server where the kids can't reach!)

Jay Godfrey, Adams Maxi Dress, on sale for $270 Cusp

May I pour you a drink? That's what I imagine saying to guests when they arrive at the door for the holidays while wearing this stylish, yet comfortable dress. Just needs some dangly earrings and a big cuff.

Christina Wright's Pick

Essie nail polish, $8 bottle Essie

I am kinda a nail polish fanatic, okay okay, I AM a nail polish fanatic. (There's no "kinda" about it.) I have so many shades and different brands, that I actually have researched buying some sort of modern style nail salon display case for them. Yes, it's that bad! My favorite line of polishes is from Essie. So many amazing colors, and they paint on like a dream! I hope my stocking is filled with these colors from their winter collection. You hear me Santa? I would be such a good girl...with awesome nails of course!

Lauren's Pick

The Body Shop Fragrance Oils and Burners, $16 Burner, $5 for each oil The Body Shop

Each day this week, I've had a different holiday scent flowing through my apartment; not because I've been baking cookies or putting up a fresh spruce tree, but because I've been burning these oils from The Body Shop. I like them so much better than scented candles because they last longer, the scent spreads more, and the best part- you can mix fragrances for a unique combination. My favorites around the holidays are Juniper Berry, for a sweet yet woodsy feel, and Vanilla Bliss, which has me craving sugar cookies. I also like their more fruity scents, like Exotic and Peach.

Studded Collar Necklace, $30 Etsy
The collar necklace is definitely a trend to try! The embellished neckpieces help make any outfit standout. Wear them with your favorite knit sweater to add some style and sass. You can also channel your inner Audrey Hepburn and pair it with your favorite LBD for the "Breakfast at Tiffany" look. It's the perfect accessory to wear to any holiday and New Year party.

Being a New Yorker I could almost set my clock to the day it turned cold enough for a coat. It always seemed to be on the eve of Halloween. That meant the cool costume you wanted everyone to see was suddenly covered up with a coat. Living in Los Angeles, my wardrobe of coats hangs in the closet lonely most of the time unless I'm grabbing my shearling for NYC or Toronto or pulling on a leather jacket for those moments between the car and event. But I can't help but want to peek at all the coat styles offered this season and perhaps add or two more lightweight styles to closet. A girl likes to have options.
